"The messages kept coming off the wire service machine and finally one started grinding out the story of Lee Harvey Oswald and his previous life in Russia and his membership in the Fair Play for Cuba Committee. This went against all the preconceived theories we had established."

" 'If this is true,' Secretary Rusk said, this is going to have repercussions around the world for years to come.'"

On November 22, 1963, most of President John F. Kennedy's cabinet were in an airplane over the Pacific on their way to Japan for a regional conference, including Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Secretary of the Treasury Douglas Dillon, Secretary of Interior Stewart Udall, Secretary of Commerce Luther Hodges, Secretary of Agriculture Orville Freeman, Secretary of Labor Willard Wirtz and Press Secretary Pierre Salinger.

The existing Air Force One tapes begin, not with radio communications with Air Force One, but with riveting conversations between the Cabinet plane and the White House Situation Room.

Good piece Bill. Many important points in it. The missing code books rather universally; the scripted removal of most of the Government structure on their way to Japan; the propaganda about Oswald [which even had it been true, was out of place in time and nature], the contrast between the public line that the assassin was an agent of a hostile foreign government and the DEFCON status that belied that the plotters knew damn well that was all a phony story, the amazing coincidence of "The Navy aide in the Situation Room, Oliver Hallet, within the hour, would also learn from the wire service reports that the accused assassin was former Marine Lee Harvey Oswald, who Hallett had known from his stint as a Navy attaché at the US Embassy in Moscow. Hallett was in the room when Oswald turned his passport over to the embassy officer (Snyder)."; and the clear picture that emerges of a high Cabal having taken care of all details to retain control of the Government for itself - including some provisions they didn't use, but were prepared to, if needed. Sinister in the extreme.....and still we as a Nation treat it as if it were the assassination of Caesar - not STILL effecting our DAILY polity today. Wrong! Rusk's question "Who is the government now?'" still applies - and rings with no real answer, IMHO. It certainly is NOT the 'government' presented to the public - which is IMO only a false facade of the real powers and the real control structure(s). While to some extent this has been so since 1776, it really became much more so at noon on 11/22/63! Isn't it about time [in fact, long overdue] that We the People! take back our government!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!angryfire

Bill - thank you for posting this.

What have JFK researchers established as the source of these wire reports detailing Oswald's defection and FPCC involvement so soon after the assassination?

As David Lifton points out:

This UPI UPI dispatch (at 3:46 PM CST) is critical because it identifies LHO as"the prime suspect" in the JFK assassinationand links him to the Fair Playfor Cuba Committee.

Dallas, Nov. 22 (UPI)--Police today seized Lee H. Oswald, identified aschairman of a "Fair Play for Cuba Committee," as the prime suspect inthe assassination of President Kennedy...

Police said Oswald, 24, was accused in the slaying of a Dallas policeman shortly after the shooting of thePresident.

Police Capt. Pat Gannaway* said the suspect was an employee in the buildingwhere a rifle was found.

Gannaway said the suspect had visited Russia and was married to a Russian. This was notimmediately confirmed. (More)

*Note, 8/16/06: In retrospect, it now seems clear that Gannaway, ofthe DPD Intelligence Division, was an important player.

From my research, DPD Intelligence [and other intelligence agents POSING/ACTING as DPD Intelligence] played a very important role in the events before, during and after the assassination. However, they were NOT the originators of this plot...only parts of the machine.
