Joan Mellen's new book "Our Man in Haiti"
#1
My friend Joan Mellen has two books coming out, one will be out later this month: http://www.melodika....25921&Itemid=55
For those interested in the elusive George DeMohrenschildt, and lots more.

A second book will focus on "TheTexas Mafia" and my dear friend Jay Harrison will play a role, including his name in the title, which I just learned via an email from Joan.

I wish to publicly thank Walt Brown for giving Joan total access to Jay's files. And as he said long ago they are very hard to fatham and most cryptic, but she had boxes for many months. I am searching my memory for J stories to relate.

I double checked this link here and it did not work. Thanks to the wonderful Mike Hogan for posting it at EF where it does work and I copied it from there so no clue. Maybe this time it will work...Joan is too busy to go on forums and Mike, alas, does not post here.

Wonderful! Look forward to reading them both.

Best-selling author Joan Mellen's new book, Our Man in Haiti: George De Mohrenschildt and the CIA in the Nightmare Republic, soon to be published by TrineDay, is receiving strong praise before it's release this fall.

Author and Activist, Dick Gregory declares, "This book is a revelation and a page-turner." Gregory continues, "Ever since Toussaint L'Ouverture and the people of Haiti inspired a continent and shocked the world by defeating the great armies of Napoleon in the first great slave revolt, Haiti has been targeted by U.S. rulers.

"In Our Man in Haiti, her 20th book, Joan Mellen, the bestselling, acclaimed historian and cultural critic tracks brilliantly the relentless role of the U.S. military and the CIA in the internal life of Haiti.

"Mellen takes us inside the sinister world of CIA as it installs, controls and seeks to displace Francois Duvalier, deploying eight para-military invasions while trafficking in arms and the Mafia. We are immersed in a shocking record of perfidy punctuated by pay-offs, secret bank holdings, murder and drugs.

"Through newly revealed documents of CIA and military intelligence, Mellen dissects the role in Haiti of George de Mohrenschildt, the CIA's controller of Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas.

"This is a dark hidden history and Joan Mellen has finally shined light upon this darkness exposing the role CIA Counter-Intelligence Director James Angleton through previously unknown CIA documents and those of the top-secret 902nd military intelligence group."

Zachary Sklar, co-screenwriter (with Oliver Stone) of the film JFK and editor of Jim Garrison's book On the Trail of the Assassins, has this to say:

"Our Man in Haiti is a harrowing journey into the belly of the beast. Following the trail of George de Mohrenschildt, an obscure character lurking in the shadows of the JFK assassination, Joan Mellen uncovers the CIA's destructive machinations in Haiti from the 1950s until today.

"The shameful story is filled with deception, greed, violence and intrigue. The cast of characters including self-proclaimed barons, arms and drug dealers, paramilitary mercenaries and Mata Hari-like spies seems to have taken refuge from an undiscovered John LeCarre novel. But sadly, this is not fiction. It is all meticulously source-noted and horrifyingly true. Joan Mellen has done an astonishing job of wading through previously secret government documents to tell a story that continues to this day the story of how the CIA goes about manipulating and overthrowing governments of desperately poor countries in order to secure the profits of big American corporations."

And Mark Lane, lawyer and author of Rush to Judgment, Plausible Denial and, Last Word: My Indictment of the CIA in the Murder of JFK, comments:

"Joan Mellen, whose work has demonstrated that she is an excellent researcher and writer, scores again with Our Man in Haiti. A new and different subject, but the author's skills are apparent."

TrineDay, a small Oregon publisher specializing in suppressed works, is releasing Our Man in Haiti: George De Mohrenschildt and the CIA in the Nightmare Republic in November 2012.

TrineDay books are made available to the trade by Independent Publishing Group of Chicago.

From what Joan told me [hints] in emails and some of the questions she asked, it should be a dynamite book and put G deM in his proper place in the events of the time and Dallas, as well. He was used for other ops, as she will tell. I'll be interested to see how she deals with the details of his being suicided - as so MANY others. It seems to be the favorite method of killing by the intelligence community and 'believed' of gone along with by the police, coroners, DAs and most of the public. Anyone know the date of release at Trine or elsewhere? I'm also drooling to know what info might be in the book on Dorothy Mattlack - one of the highest level female intelligence persons in modern time and one who Prouty always urged me to research. She met DeM as a cut-out for Lansdale [who she worked with and for] not long before he died. Joan's research and books are all dynamite - and I'm sure this one will be, as well.

I agree. But for personal reasons-J- I am more interested in that book. It's been a lot of fun helping her on it....Lots more to do...So much for spending the day doing music today. I woke up to emails from Joan and others on THIS damn case and got really into that direction. I want my life back. But I know that the powers that be have time on their side and the fucking media, so it seems futile much of the time. I cannot interest my friends or colleagues at all. Story of my life almost. Glad to come here where people know and care.
But most are sheeple. By choice. I will not ever understand why.:banghead:

Joan actually worked on the last three books at the same time and some information was used for all...however, to keep the size of the books down and within the guidelines set-out by the publishers, it was agreed that it would become three books. I agree that J's information should be of great interest. Now, I know the mystery of the 'other researcher I gave access to' statement from WB; but still am upset and can't forgive that he first agreed and then refused me access - refused to tell me who the other researcher was - and it is particularly strange as Joan and I know each other very well. I only learned from her a few months back that she had had access. She knew nothing of my being denied access. They are living not far apart - as an added plus.

Yes, sadly, most Americans [including educated professionals and 'liberals'] are not interested [read afraid] to look behind the curtains at the truth of what has been and still is going on in the USA. When the dead of this Empire is written, IMO, it will be the cowardice and inaction of that group that will be evaluated by history as the cause of the downfall - more than the propaganda they took in and to a large extent 'bought'. Those in many repressive dictatorships were also fed propaganda and made believe they 'bought it' but did not. Sadly, all too many Americans DO buy the bull for that if they knew, they'd morally be obliged to act - and as comfortable sheep - they care not to have to act. Very sad, and they will pay the ultimate price when they loose their freedoms completely and their country.

Just checked and Joan has yet one more book in process.....! Wink On US attempts to destroy Cuba and Castro; who was involved and who paid the price....etc.

Book Description
Publication Date: February 1, 2013 | ISBN-10: 1620874679 | ISBN-13: 978-1620874677 | Edition: 1

Known colloquially as "the great game," the CIA's shadowy operations are revealed as never before in this riveting exposé from New York Times bestselling author Joan Mellen.
The Great Game in Cuba uses the backdrop of the Cuban Revolution to examine the CIA's inner workings during the fifties and sixties. Detailing the agency's lies and deceits, Mellen paints a vivid behind-the-scenes picture of the CIA in Cuba after the Castro revolution: what it wanted and the lengths it was willing to go to paralyze the opposition to Fidel Castro.

The game begins with Robert J. Kleberg, Jr., proprietor of the legendary King Ranch, one of the largest ranches in the world. Kleberg's messianic ambitions bring him to Cuba, where he establishes a satellite ranch managed by his right-hand man, the James Bondtype character Michael J. P. Malone, who secretly reported to both the FBI and to at least five CIA handlers.

From there the plot thickens as an array of Cubans share never-before-revealed information regarding the agency's activities in Cuba and its attempts to unseat Castro and install a CIA-friendly figurehead in his place. The mysterious disappearance of Camilo Cienfuegos, a major figure in Castro's government, is told here for the first time. The agency's shady dealings with a major U.S. publication are uncovered.

A testament to the sheer volume of previously classified and untold information, The Great Game in Cuba is a story the world needs to hear.

Peter I don't want to get int a long personal thing here about Walt but J's files are very hard to understand and so cryptic. Joan drove to Walt's and had to have help carrying stuff. Big bxes. I have no way of knowing how you would have gotten access without doing the same thing. And even if you did do that you would encounter all the problems Joan did. I have just one of his files that he was clutching on his deathbed and it is basically all dates, beginning in the 1800's. And some info from that was helpfull to Joan yesterday regarding a timeline. It is about a guy no one has ever heard of but he was also on Mac Wallace's trail and made contact with Mac's daughter and they were to "talk" in three days but he died of a "heart attack" two days later. Age 46. And his files went missing!!! Joan was under the impression this guy had talked with the daughter about Mac.
Jay and a mutual friend of ours named Rachel were to meet him at a place in Dallas but he died the day before that could happen. It really spooked J. Later Walt told me that Billie Sol bought the rights to his story and I confirmed that on the phone with Billie Sol when I contacted him about the death of another friend (Floyd Stephens) who was also researching this stuff as he found files that lead him to believe his dad may have been involved in the murder of Henry Marshall. He too died of a "heart attack" at age 46.
Anyway I do not know what Walt's deal was in the past but I have the impression now that if you come to him he will allow access. In fact I think he told me that in a phone conversation some months back. But these are not like regular researcher's files. Ask Joan.
