I've always found it amazing how no video or audio of this press conference has ever surfaced. Only one photograph. But there must have been a recording at some point, because this transcript was prepared and later found in the LBJ library:

Well, this came out in the 90s, so it's not exactly new information. I was surprised that no one had mentioned it in this thread.

It was, after all, 50 years ago. Perhaps it did air and was then "lost". This happens frequently. When there is a conspiracy first day stories are the most important and when they don't favor the government spin they disappear. Dawn

But no one could find a recording of it. Amazing that it would all disappear so quickly. But somebody in the White House must have had a recording to make that transcript with.

"There are three sorts of conspiracy: by the people who complain, by the people who write, by the people who take action. There is nothing to fear from the first group, the two others are more dangerous; but the police have to be part of all three,"

So apparently there was a stenographer at the press conference, which is kind of odd. Why not just bring in a film camera?
I don't know if I buy the idea that the transcript was a fake, though. |
