Jim DiEugenio on The Devil's Chessboard

Jim DiEugenio Wrote:Dawn, I think the book you are talking about is Paris Flammonde's The Kennedy Conspiracy.

He died in the past year. I forgot he excerpted it there. What a smart guy. And a very underrated book.

Great write up Jim. I have not trusted Hoch since the 80's (I used to be on his mailing list). The one good thing I got out of that correspondence was learning of Prof Phil Melanson, with whom I developed a great friendship in the 8O's. I have all of his books which are also very underrated.
I also assisted in him getting all the RFK files for his University and was at the press conference there when that happy event occurred. Another great dedicated researcher gone way too soon.

If you ever saw Hoch's mailing list, you would really be a bit ill.

It includes Reitzes and Blatburst/Roy--you know the self-proclaimed "careful researcher".

He once tried to tell Lisa that she should read Carlos Bringuier's Red Friday.

I think the Castro speech is also in that HISTORY WILL NOT ABSOLVE US volume (Schotz?). I remember being startled when I first read it there.

I have Flammonde's KENNEDY CONSPIRACY in the more recent, multi-volume expanded version that he was selling a couple of years ago. It's full of typos and I've never finished it but what I've read is worthwhile. I recall when I sent my money order off to Paris a snafu meant that my mail was misdirected, and Paris reminded of how few remaining copies of the set they had left while we waited. Five copies, four, three... then my money order turned up and Paris wrote "Huzzah!" and sent the set of volumes off to me.

There are multiple aspects of the JFK assassination that would startle or dumbfound the general public if they were more widely aware of them. The detailed suspicion and doubts that various foreign leaders had towards the official story is one of these.

Right on.

Plus the people high up in the stratum of government in the USA.

And let us not forget the majority of people on the Warren Commission.

If we ever got to do a documentary on this on cable, that might be the way to start it.

A good JFK documentary is long overdue.
“The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him.”

Not surprising. In one of his offerings he attempted to defend the magic bullet. Odd man. More like someone collecting names Mary Ferrell style, only way less sophisticated.

Jim DiEugenio Wrote:This is a little late because I had to read the book twice. No one can read it just once and digest all of the material in it. Simply not possible.

I also took 43 pages of notes. Which actually was not enough.

And even though I did a pretty thorough job, I had to ignore some of the book or the review would have been even longer. And no one would have raed it.

This is the best book on Dulles there is, hands down. Which is why the MSM will not touch it. A distinguished and considerable achievement.

Wow! What an AMAZING in-depth review of Talbot's new book! I have shared your review with many of my friends who have come away with the same conclusionyou are brilliant! Your review has inspired me to go back for a mulligan read of "Reclaiming Parkland," hoping I can now better stomach reading more about Bugliosi's singular idiocy on the topic. That you managed to wade neck deep through his epic monstrosity is indicative of extraordinary stamina and uncommon valor, (reminiscent of the endurance needed to trudge through the other Macbethian 26 volumes of tales told by idiots, full of sound and fury, that signify nothing...at least nothing believable. Literally, a conspiracy meant to end all theories.

Still, someone has to do the leg work, I suppose, but unlike you, not many have the exceptional mind to match their fortitude. Your review of "Devil's Chessboard" was just as enjoyable to read as the book itself, if not more. I'm looking forward to your next efforts, and have endless gratitude for all of your invaluable contributions to the community of unloved lovers of the truth!

Thanks so much.

Nice Xmas gift.

But actually I wish there were more of us doing this kind of thing.

So do I, but still, researchers as meticulous and cogent as you do not come along often.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks again.

I checked our stats today.

The Talbot review has actually increased its rating.

Its at 1732 hits per day and 1497 visits per day. A phenomenal ratio.

That increase corresponds with the Amazon rating of the book jumping about 400 places.

Maybe I should ask Talbot for a piece of the action?
